| Abstract | Cognitive computing has emerged as an important area of intelligent computing that seeks to integrate perception, learning, memory, reasoning, natural language understanding, and adaptive decision-making within unified computational frameworks. The increasing volume and complexity of digital information has created a need for intelligent systems capable of processing structured and unstructured data while maintaining contextual awareness and supporting human-centered decision-making. This study examines cognitive computing frameworks for intelligent information processing, with particular attention to knowledge representation, machine learning, natural language processing, context awareness, cognitive reasoning, adaptive learning, and human-computer interaction. A qualitative descriptive research design was adopted through a structured review and conceptual analysis of relevant academic literature. The findings indicate that cognitive computing frameworks can improve information interpretation, knowledge extraction, decision support, adaptive learning, and intelligent interaction. Cognitive systems are particularly valuable because they combine multiple computational capabilities rather than relying on a single predictive model. Contemporary research describes cognitive systems as architectures that coordinate perception, learning, memory, and reasoning while adapting to changing contexts. However, challenges related to data quality, explainability, computational requirements, bias, privacy, interoperability, and scalability remain significant. The study concludes that robust cognitive computing frameworks can strengthen intelligent information processing when designed around contextual adaptation, reliable knowledge representation, human oversight, and responsible AI principles. |
