Machine Learning Models for Intelligent Process Automation

Abstract The rapid expansion of digital technologies has increased the demand for automated processes capable of responding intelligently to changing operational conditions. Conventional automation systems generally depend on predefined rules and fixed workflows, which may become ineffective when processes involve uncertainty, large data volumes, or continuously changing patterns. Machine learning provides an important foundation for intelligent process automation by enabling systems to learn from historical and real-time data, identify operational patterns, predict outcomes, detect anomalies, and optimize decisions.
This study examines machine learning models for intelligent process automation and proposes a conceptual framework integrating data acquisition, preprocessing, model learning, predictive intelligence, automated decision-making, and continuous process optimization. A conceptual and descriptive research design is adopted through the synthesis of secondary scholarly literature concerning machine learning, intelligent automation, predictive analytics, process management, and artificial intelligence. The proposed framework emphasizes the integration of supervised learning, unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning, anomaly detection, predictive modeling, and adaptive feedback mechanisms.
The analysis indicates that machine learning can improve process efficiency, reduce repetitive manual intervention, strengthen predictive capabilities, support resource optimization, and improve operational consistency. However, challenges associated with data quality, model interpretability, cybersecurity, system integration, computational requirements, and model drift remain important considerations. The study concludes that machine learning-based process automation can provide a scalable foundation for intelligent operational systems when supported by high-quality data, appropriate model selection, continuous monitoring, human oversight, and responsible governance.
