Data Science Frameworks for Smart Decision Management

| Abstract | The rapid expansion of digital information has transformed organizational decision-making by creating both significant analytical opportunities and increasing complexity. Modern organizations generate large volumes of structured and unstructured data through business transactions, digital platforms, sensors, enterprise applications, and connected technologies. Converting these diverse information resources into reliable decisions requires systematic frameworks that integrate data collection, processing, statistical analysis, machine learning, visualization, and decision-support mechanisms. This study examines the role of data science frameworks in supporting smart decision management and improving the quality, timeliness, and reliability of organizational decisions. A qualitative descriptive research design based on secondary academic literature was employed to examine major components of data science frameworks, analytical techniques, intelligent decision-support capabilities, and implementation challenges. The analysis focuses on data integration, preprocessing, exploratory analytics, predictive modeling, machine learning, visualization, and decision intelligence. Predictive analytics can support forecasting and risk assessment, while machine learning can identify complex patterns and relationships that may remain difficult to detect through conventional approaches. Data visualization and interactive analytical dashboards can further improve communication between analytical systems and decision-makers. However, challenges involving data quality, privacy, cybersecurity, interpretability, computational infrastructure, algorithmic bias, and organizational readiness may limit successful implementation. The study concludes that effective data science frameworks should integrate technical capabilities with strong governance, analytical validation, domain knowledge, and human oversight. Future frameworks should increasingly emphasize real-time analytics, explainable artificial intelligence, automated data management, adaptive learning, privacy-preserving analytics, and human-centered decision intelligence to support reliable and sustainable smart decision management. |
