| Abstract | The rapid development of digital technologies has transformed innovation management from a predominantly experience-driven activity into an increasingly data-intensive strategic function. Organizations generate extensive information through customers, markets, operations, research activities, digital platforms, social media, and emerging technologies. Data science provides advanced approaches for converting these diverse information resources into actionable knowledge that can support opportunity identification, innovation forecasting, resource allocation, product development, and strategic decision-making. This study examines the role of data science approaches in future innovation management and develops a conceptual framework integrating data acquisition, data preparation, exploratory analysis, predictive modeling, machine learning, knowledge discovery, innovation evaluation, and strategic feedback. A conceptual and descriptive research methodology was adopted through a thematic synthesis of scholarly literature concerning data science, innovation management, Big Data analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, business intelligence, and data-driven decision-making. The analysis indicates that data science can strengthen innovation management by identifying emerging market patterns, recognizing unmet customer needs, evaluating technological trends, forecasting innovation opportunities, and supporting evidence-based investment decisions. Exploratory analytics helps organizations discover previously hidden relationships, while predictive models can estimate market demand and innovation outcomes. Prescriptive analytics can further assist managers in selecting innovation strategies and allocating resources across alternative projects. The proposed framework emphasizes continuous interaction between data science and innovation management, allowing organizations to collect new information, evaluate innovation performance, learn from outcomes, and refine future strategies. Applications extend across product innovation, service development, process improvement, digital transformation, research and development, entrepreneurship, and sustainable innovation. However, several challenges may limit successful adoption, including fragmented data, poor data quality, privacy concerns, analytical complexity, algorithmic bias, organizational resistance, infrastructure limitations, and shortages of interdisciplinary expertise. |
