| Abstract | Software development has become increasingly complex because modern applications require rapid delivery, continuous integration, reliable testing, secure deployment, scalable infrastructure, and frequent updates. Manual development activities can increase repetitive work, introduce human errors, and delay software delivery. Software automation therefore represents an important approach for improving development efficiency and supporting systematic software engineering practices. This study examines software automation techniques for efficient development processes, focusing on automated coding support, continuous integration, continuous delivery, automated testing, build automation, deployment automation, infrastructure automation, code quality analysis, monitoring, and intelligent development tools. A qualitative descriptive research design based on secondary academic literature was adopted to examine how automation influences development productivity, software quality, reliability, scalability, and delivery efficiency. The analysis indicates that automation can reduce repetitive development activities, accelerate testing and deployment, improve consistency, and provide earlier identification of software defects. Continuous integration supports frequent code integration and automated validation, while continuous delivery facilitates reliable software release processes. Automated testing can increase testing coverage and reduce the time required for repetitive validation activities. Infrastructure and deployment automation can further improve consistency across development, testing, and production environments. However, automation implementation involves challenges related to tool complexity, integration difficulties, maintenance requirements, technical skills, legacy systems, security risks, and inappropriate automation design. The study concludes that effective software automation requires an integrated approach connecting development, testing, deployment, infrastructure, quality assurance, and monitoring activities. Future software development environments are expected to increasingly incorporate artificial intelligence, intelligent code generation, autonomous testing, predictive defect detection, self-healing infrastructure, and adaptive automation. |
