| Abstract | Digital transformation has become a strategic priority for organizations seeking to improve operational efficiency, customer experiences, organizational agility, innovation capacity, and long-term competitiveness. Software has emerged as one of the principal technological foundations of transformation because modern organizations increasingly depend on digital platforms, intelligent applications, cloud services, automation technologies, data-driven systems, and interconnected digital ecosystems. However, digital transformation cannot be achieved simply by adopting new software products. It requires systematic software innovation strategies that integrate technological experimentation, agile development, cloud-native architectures, artificial intelligence, application modernization, cybersecurity, data integration, user-centered design, and organizational adaptation. This study examines software innovation strategies for digital transformation and evaluates their contribution to technological modernization, operational improvement, innovation performance, organizational responsiveness, and sustainable digital development. A qualitative descriptive research design based on secondary academic literature was adopted to examine contemporary software innovation approaches and their applications in digitally transforming organizations. The analysis focuses on agile innovation, cloud-native software development, artificial intelligence, low-code and automation platforms, legacy modernization, DevOps practices, digital platforms, cybersecurity integration, and continuous software improvement. The findings indicate that successful digital transformation depends on the alignment of software innovation with organizational objectives, business processes, user requirements, data capabilities, and governance structures. Agile and DevOps practices can accelerate software delivery, while cloud-native architectures can improve scalability and flexibility. Artificial intelligence and automation can support intelligent decision-making and operational efficiency. Application modernization can reduce technological limitations associated with legacy systems, while platform-oriented approaches can strengthen ecosystem integration. Nevertheless, software innovation initiatives face challenges involving organizational resistance, legacy infrastructure, cybersecurity risks, integration complexity, skills shortages, financial constraints, data-quality problems, and difficulties in measuring innovation outcomes. |
