Smart Software Frameworks for Next Generation Computing Systems

| Abstract | The emergence of next-generation computing systems is transforming the design, development, deployment, and management of software applications. Modern computing environments increasingly integrate artificial intelligence, cloud computing, edge computing, Internet of Things devices, distributed architectures, autonomous services, high-performance computing, and data-intensive applications. These developments have created a requirement for software frameworks that are intelligent, adaptive, scalable, secure, interoperable, and capable of supporting heterogeneous computational environments. Conventional software frameworks often provide reusable structures for application development but may not adequately address dynamic resource availability, intelligent decision-making, continuous learning, distributed execution, and context-aware adaptation. This study examines smart software frameworks for next-generation computing systems and proposes an integrated conceptual framework for intelligent software development and management. A conceptual descriptive research design was adopted using secondary literature related to software frameworks, intelligent systems, cloud-native computing, edge computing, distributed systems, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, microservices, DevOps, adaptive computing, and software architecture. The analysis identifies modular architecture, intelligent orchestration, adaptive resource management, distributed processing, AI integration, interoperability, automated testing, continuous deployment, security engineering, observability, and self-adaptive management as major characteristics of smart software frameworks. The proposed framework connects requirements analysis, modular framework design, intelligent service integration, data management, adaptive execution, security, testing, deployment, monitoring, and continuous optimization. The findings indicate that next-generation computing requires software frameworks capable of responding dynamically to changes in workload, computational resources, user requirements, environmental conditions, and security threats. Modular architectures provide a foundation for flexibility by allowing independent software components to evolve without requiring complete system redevelopment. Microservices and service-oriented approaches can support scalability and independent deployment, while cloud computing provides elastic computational resources. Edge computing can reduce latency by placing computational capabilities closer to data sources and users. |
