| Abstract | Industrial energy consumption represents a significant component of global energy demand, making efficient energy management an important requirement for improving operational performance, reducing production costs, and supporting environmental sustainability. The increasing complexity of manufacturing systems, together with the integration of renewable energy, distributed generation, energy storage, industrial automation, and digital technologies, has created a need for intelligent energy management models capable of responding dynamically to changing operational conditions. Smart Energy Management Systems provide an integrated framework for monitoring, analyzing, forecasting, optimizing, and controlling industrial energy consumption. This study examines smart energy management models for industrial applications and evaluates their contribution to energy efficiency, demand forecasting, load optimization, renewable-energy integration, peak-demand reduction, energy-cost management, and sustainable industrial operation. A qualitative descriptive research design based on secondary academic literature was adopted. The analysis considers conventional energy-management approaches alongside advanced technologies such as Industrial Internet of Things systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning, predictive analytics, digital twins, edge computing, cloud computing, energy storage, demand-response mechanisms, and optimization algorithms. The findings indicate that smart energy management can improve industrial energy performance by enabling continuous monitoring of electricity, thermal energy, compressed air, steam, fuel, and other energy resources. Real-time monitoring allows industrial organizations to identify abnormal consumption patterns and inefficient equipment. Predictive analytics can forecast energy demand based on production schedules, historical consumption, environmental conditions, machine states, and market information. Optimization models can coordinate energy-consuming equipment and storage systems to reduce peak demand and improve energy utilization. Artificial intelligence can further enhance these capabilities by learning complex consumption patterns and dynamically supporting operational decisions. Renewable-energy integration represents another important application because smart management models can coordinate variable renewable generation with industrial demand and storage capacity. Energy storage systems can help balance fluctuations between generation and consumption while reducing dependence on high-cost peak-period electricity. |
