| Abstract | The Internet of Things (IoT) has emerged as an important technological foundation for developing intelligent and sustainable systems across environmental, industrial, urban, agricultural, energy, and infrastructure domains. IoT-enabled intelligent solutions integrate connected sensors, communication networks, edge computing, cloud platforms, data analytics, and artificial intelligence to support continuous monitoring and data-driven decision-making. This study examines the role of IoT-enabled intelligent solutions in sustainable development, focusing on resource efficiency, environmental monitoring, energy management, smart infrastructure, intelligent agriculture, and sustainable industrial operations. A qualitative descriptive and conceptual research design based on secondary academic literature was adopted. The analysis indicates that IoT technologies can improve real-time information availability, resource utilization, operational efficiency, predictive decision-making, and environmental awareness. Intelligent analytics can transform sensor-generated information into actionable insights, while edge and cloud computing can provide distributed and scalable processing capabilities. IoT applications can contribute to sustainability by monitoring energy consumption, optimizing resource distribution, reducing operational waste, and supporting environmental assessment. However, implementation challenges include cybersecurity, privacy, interoperability, scalability, energy consumption, data quality, infrastructure costs, and technological complexity. The study concludes that IoT-enabled intelligent solutions can contribute substantially to sustainable development when technological integration is combined with effective data management, security, energy efficiency, and responsible system design. Future research should emphasize sustainable IoT architectures, intelligent edge computing, privacy-preserving analytics, renewable-powered sensor networks, digital twins, and autonomous resource-management systems. |
