| Abstract | Smart cities are increasingly using intelligent Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to improve urban monitoring, infrastructure management, public services, transportation, energy utilization, environmental sustainability, and citizen-oriented services. Intelligent IoT frameworks integrate sensors, communication networks, edge and cloud computing, artificial intelligence, big data analytics, and automated decision-support mechanisms to establish connected and responsive urban environments. This paper examines smart city frameworks using intelligent IoT technologies through a conceptual and literature-based approach. The study focuses on IoT architecture, intelligent data processing, connected infrastructure, smart mobility, energy management, environmental monitoring, public safety, and digital public services. The analysis demonstrates that intelligent IoT technologies can strengthen real-time urban monitoring, resource optimization, operational coordination, predictive management, and service responsiveness. However, smart city implementation is influenced by cybersecurity, privacy, interoperability, data governance, infrastructure investment, technological complexity, and digital skills. The study emphasizes that an effective smart city framework should integrate technological infrastructure with institutional governance, citizen participation, security mechanisms, and sustainable development objectives. Future research should investigate AI-enabled urban intelligence, edge-based IoT frameworks, digital twins, interoperable platforms, privacy-preserving analytics, autonomous urban services, and human-centered smart city development. |
