| Abstract | Intelligent smart systems are increasingly recognized as important technological mechanisms for addressing interconnected environmental, economic, industrial, and social challenges associated with sustainable future development. These systems integrate the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing, edge computing, advanced sensors, automation, data analytics, and intelligent decision-support technologies to improve the monitoring and management of complex physical and digital environments. This study examines the role of intelligent smart systems in supporting sustainable development through a conceptual and literature-based research approach. The study focuses on intelligent energy management, smart infrastructure, sustainable transportation, precision agriculture, smart manufacturing, environmental monitoring, water management, and resource optimization. The analysis indicates that intelligent smart systems can strengthen sustainability by enabling continuous monitoring, predictive analysis, efficient resource allocation, automated decision-making, and adaptive system management. IoT technologies provide real-time information from physical environments, while artificial intelligence and data analytics convert collected information into actionable insights. Edge and cloud computing provide complementary capabilities for real-time processing and large-scale analytical operations. However, sustainable implementation is influenced by challenges involving cybersecurity, data privacy, interoperability, digital inequality, implementation costs, technological complexity, energy consumption, and workforce capabilities. The study emphasizes that intelligent smart systems should be designed around integrated architectures that connect sensing, communication, intelligent analytics, automation, and sustainability-oriented decision-making. Future research should investigate energy-efficient artificial intelligence, intelligent digital twins, decentralized smart infrastructures, explainable AI, autonomous sustainability management, and circular digital technologies. The study concludes that intelligent smart systems can contribute substantially to sustainable future development when technological innovation is combined with environmental responsibility, social inclusion, secure infrastructure, efficient resource utilization, and long-term economic viability. |
