| Abstract | Machine learning has emerged as an important technological approach for developing personalized healthcare solutions by enabling healthcare systems to analyze patient-specific information and generate individualized predictions, recommendations, and interventions. The increasing availability of electronic health records, medical imaging, genomic information, wearable-device measurements, laboratory results, and patient-generated data provides opportunities to move healthcare from generalized treatment strategies toward more individualized approaches. This study examines machine learning approaches for personalized healthcare solutions, focusing on predictive modeling, patient stratification, risk assessment, treatment optimization, clinical decision support, and continuous health monitoring. A qualitative descriptive and conceptual research design was adopted using secondary academic literature. The analysis considers supervised learning, unsupervised learning, ensemble learning, deep learning, and reinforcement learning as important approaches for personalized healthcare. Machine learning can support individualized disease-risk prediction, treatment response estimation, patient segmentation, clinical outcome prediction, and personalized monitoring. However, implementation is affected by challenges involving data quality, privacy, interoperability, algorithmic bias, interpretability, model generalizability, clinical validation, and regulatory requirements. The study indicates that personalized healthcare can benefit from machine learning when patient-specific data are analyzed through clinically relevant, transparent, secure, and validated models. Future research should emphasize multimodal data integration, explainable machine learning, federated learning, personalized treatment optimization, real-time health monitoring, fairness-aware algorithms, and human-centered clinical decision support. |
