Artificial Intelligence Models for Medical Research Advancement

| Abstract | Artificial intelligence has emerged as an important technological approach for advancing medical research through computational analysis of complex healthcare information. The increasing availability of electronic health records, medical images, genomic datasets, biomedical literature, laboratory information, physiological measurements, and clinical trial data has created opportunities for applying artificial intelligence models across different stages of medical research. This study examines artificial intelligence models for medical research advancement through a conceptual and literature-based research approach. The study focuses on machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, predictive modeling, computer vision, and intelligent analytical systems. These models can assist researchers in identifying patterns, analyzing complex datasets, supporting disease research, interpreting medical images, identifying potential biomarkers, predicting outcomes, and extracting information from biomedical literature. Artificial intelligence can also contribute to clinical research by supporting patient stratification, trial data analysis, research workflow automation, and evidence synthesis. However, the reliability of AI-based medical research depends on data quality, model validation, generalizability, transparency, computational resources, privacy, and responsible research practices. Bias within training datasets can influence model outputs, while insufficient external validation may limit applicability across different populations and healthcare environments. Artificial intelligence should therefore complement scientific expertise rather than replace researchers or medical professionals. The study concludes that appropriately validated AI models can strengthen medical research by improving analytical efficiency, supporting complex data interpretation, and facilitating evidence-informed research processes. Future research should focus on explainable AI, multimodal models, federated learning, privacy-preserving methods, foundation models, synthetic data, reproducible research, and responsible integration of AI into medical research environments. |
