| Abstract | Artificial intelligence is increasingly transforming educational environments by enabling adaptive learning, intelligent tutoring, automated assessment, personalized feedback, learning analytics, and data-driven educational decision-making. Smart learning environments integrate digital platforms, connected devices, learning management systems, artificial intelligence, and educational analytics to create more responsive and personalized learning experiences. This study examines the applications of artificial intelligence in smart learning environments through a conceptual and literature-based research design. The analysis focuses on adaptive learning systems, intelligent tutoring systems, natural language processing, predictive analytics, automated assessment, recommendation systems, generative AI, and learner analytics. AI-enabled systems can analyze learner interactions and academic information to identify learning patterns, personalize educational content, provide immediate feedback, and support early identification of students requiring additional assistance. Recent literature indicates growing research interest in AI-driven adaptive learning and intelligent educational technologies, particularly in personalized and technology-supported learning environments. At the same time, responsible implementation requires attention to privacy, algorithmic bias, transparency, teacher readiness, digital access, academic integrity, and human oversight. UNESCO has emphasized a human-centered approach to generative AI in education, including data protection, ethical validation, and appropriate pedagogical design. The study concludes that AI can strengthen smart learning environments by making educational experiences more adaptive, interactive, predictive, and learner-centered. Future research should emphasize explainable AI, multimodal learning analytics, teacher-AI collaboration, privacy-preserving technologies, inclusive design, and rigorous evaluation of educational outcomes. |
