Artificial Intelligence Applications for Modern Financial Management

Author(s) Dr. Nor Azimah Chew Abdullah

Abstract Artificial intelligence has emerged as an important technological capability for modern financial management, transforming conventional approaches to financial analysis, forecasting, risk assessment, fraud detection, investment management, customer service, and strategic decision-making. The integration of machine learning, natural language processing, predictive analytics, deep learning, robotic process automation, and intelligent decision-support systems enables financial organizations to process large volumes of structured and unstructured data with greater speed and analytical depth. This study examines artificial intelligence applications for modern financial management through a conceptual and literature-based research design.
The study focuses on AI-enabled financial forecasting, automated accounting, credit assessment, fraud detection, risk management, investment analytics, customer financial services, regulatory compliance, and financial decision support. An integrated framework is proposed linking financial data acquisition, data preparation, AI model development, risk assessment, intelligent analysis, decision support, implementation, performance evaluation, and continuous model improvement. AI applications can improve analytical efficiency, identify complex patterns, automate repetitive financial processes, and support timely decision-making. However, organizations may encounter challenges related to data quality, cybersecurity, privacy, algorithmic bias, model explainability, regulatory compliance, implementation costs, and shortages of specialized expertise.
The study emphasizes that effective AI adoption requires alignment between technological capabilities, financial objectives, governance mechanisms, human expertise, and organizational risk-management practices. Future research should investigate explainable AI in finance, generative AI applications, autonomous financial decision systems, responsible AI governance, AI-supported sustainable finance, and advanced financial risk forecasting. The proposed framework provides a conceptual foundation for understanding how artificial intelligence can contribute to efficient, responsive, transparent, and strategically informed financial management.
