| Abstract | Technology adoption has become an important mechanism for organizations seeking to improve operational efficiency, environmental performance, resource utilization, and long-term business sustainability. Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, cloud computing, blockchain, big data analytics, automation, and digital platforms are increasingly integrated into business processes to support sustainable practices. However, successful adoption depends not only on technological availability but also on organizational readiness, perceived usefulness, financial capability, employee skills, leadership support, infrastructure, and external environmental conditions. This study examines technology adoption models for sustainable business practices by focusing on technological, organizational, environmental, behavioural, and sustainability-related factors. A qualitative descriptive and conceptual research design was adopted using secondary academic literature. The analysis identifies perceived usefulness, ease of use, organizational readiness, top-management support, technological compatibility, cost considerations, regulatory pressure, competitive conditions, environmental awareness, and stakeholder expectations as important factors influencing technology adoption. Technology adoption can contribute to energy efficiency, waste reduction, sustainable supply-chain management, resource optimization, digital process improvement, and environmentally responsible decision-making. Nevertheless, organizations may encounter barriers involving implementation costs, technological complexity, cybersecurity, employee resistance, inadequate infrastructure, skills shortages, and uncertainty regarding long-term returns. The study highlights the importance of integrated adoption models that combine technology acceptance, organizational readiness, environmental conditions, and sustainability objectives. Sustainable technology adoption should therefore be approached as a continuous organizational process involving technological evaluation, employee capability development, strategic alignment, implementation, monitoring, and improvement. The study provides a conceptual foundation for understanding how technology adoption can support sustainable business practices while addressing organizational and environmental requirements. |
