Digital Transformation Frameworks for Sustainable Organizations

| Abstract | Digital transformation has become an important organizational strategy for responding to technological change, competitive pressures, stakeholder expectations, and sustainability requirements. The integration of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, Internet of Things, big data analytics, automation, digital platforms, and intelligent information systems is reshaping organizational structures, processes, decision-making, and value creation. This study examines digital transformation frameworks for sustainable organizations through a conceptual and literature-based research approach. The study focuses on digital strategy, technological infrastructure, organizational capabilities, data-driven decision-making, innovation, employee competencies, stakeholder engagement, sustainability, governance, and organizational resilience. An integrated framework is proposed that connects digital readiness, strategic alignment, technology adoption, data capabilities, organizational transformation, sustainable value creation, and continuous improvement. The analysis indicates that digital transformation can support operational efficiency, resource optimization, innovation, organizational agility, stakeholder connectivity, and sustainability-oriented decision-making. However, successful transformation depends on leadership commitment, employee capabilities, organizational culture, digital infrastructure, data governance, cybersecurity, investment capacity, and effective change management. Digital transformation should therefore be understood as a multidimensional organizational process rather than merely the implementation of new technologies. Sustainable organizations require frameworks that simultaneously address economic performance, environmental responsibility, social value, technological capability, and long-term resilience. The study further identifies future research opportunities involving artificial intelligence-enabled sustainability management, digital twins, green information systems, intelligent resource optimization, circular digital business models, sustainable digital ecosystems, and human-AI collaboration. The proposed framework provides a conceptual foundation for organizations seeking to integrate digital innovation with sustainability objectives and long-term organizational development. |
