| Abstract | Sustainable resource management has become increasingly important as organizations and societies face growing pressures related to resource scarcity, environmental degradation, climate variability, population growth, and increasing consumption. Artificial intelligence provides advanced computational capabilities that can support efficient resource allocation, predictive analysis, environmental monitoring, demand forecasting, and adaptive management. This study examines artificial intelligence approaches for sustainable resource management, focusing on machine learning, predictive analytics, intelligent optimization, Internet of Things integration, data-driven decision-making, and automated monitoring. A qualitative descriptive and conceptual research design was adopted using secondary academic literature. The analysis identifies several areas in which artificial intelligence can support sustainable resource management, including water management, energy optimization, agricultural resource utilization, waste management, biodiversity monitoring, and supply-chain resource efficiency. AI-based predictive models can identify consumption patterns and anticipate resource requirements, while optimization techniques can support more efficient allocation of limited resources. AI-enabled monitoring systems can also process real-time information from sensors and connected devices to identify environmental changes and operational inefficiencies. Nevertheless, implementation challenges include data availability, data quality, computational requirements, technological costs, algorithmic transparency, cybersecurity, privacy, technical expertise, and integration with existing management systems. The study emphasizes that artificial intelligence should be integrated with institutional knowledge, environmental objectives, human decision-making, and responsible governance. Effective AI implementation requires reliable data infrastructures, skilled personnel, transparent algorithms, appropriate governance mechanisms, and continuous evaluation. The study contributes a conceptual perspective on how AI can support sustainable resource management while highlighting the organizational, technological, and governance conditions necessary for responsible and effective implementation. |
