| Abstract | Sustainable resource optimization has become increasingly important as organizations and communities face rising resource demand, environmental degradation, energy constraints, water scarcity, material inefficiency, and increasing waste generation. Intelligent systems provide opportunities to improve the allocation, monitoring, forecasting, and management of natural and operational resources through data-driven technologies. This study examines sustainable resource optimization through intelligent systems using a conceptual and descriptive research approach. The study focuses on artificial intelligence, machine learning, Internet of Things technologies, big-data analytics, digital twins, smart grids, predictive systems, intelligent automation, and decision-support platforms. An integrated framework is developed connecting resource assessment, real-time monitoring, intelligent analytics, demand forecasting, optimization, implementation, performance evaluation, and continuous improvement. The analysis indicates that intelligent systems can improve energy efficiency, water management, material utilization, waste reduction, production planning, transportation efficiency, and supply-chain resource management. IoT-based monitoring can provide continuous resource information, while AI-based analytics can identify consumption patterns, predict demand, detect inefficiencies, and support optimized allocation. Digital twins can further enable simulation of resource-intensive systems and evaluation of alternative management strategies. However, implementation involves challenges related to infrastructure investment, data quality, cybersecurity, interoperability, technical skills, algorithmic reliability, energy consumption, and organizational readiness. Sustainable resource optimization therefore requires integration of intelligent technologies with environmental assessment, lifecycle thinking, governance, and long-term sustainability objectives. Future research should examine autonomous resource-management systems, explainable AI for sustainability decisions, intelligent water and energy networks, digital twins for circular-resource systems, predictive waste management, and integrated resource optimization platforms. The proposed framework provides a structured basis for applying intelligent systems to resource management while balancing operational efficiency, environmental protection, technological innovation, and sustainable development. |
