| Abstract | Growing pressure on natural resources, increasing energy demand, environmental degradation, climate variability, and rapid technological development have created a need for intelligent approaches to future resource management. Conventional resource-management systems often operate through fragmented monitoring and limited predictive capabilities, making it difficult to respond efficiently to changing environmental and socioeconomic conditions. Intelligent sustainable systems integrate artificial intelligence, Internet of Things technologies, big-data analytics, digital twins, optimization techniques, renewable energy technologies, and resource-monitoring platforms to improve the management of water, energy, materials, land, and other essential resources. This study examines intelligent sustainable systems for future resource management, emphasizing resource monitoring, predictive analytics, intelligent optimization, circular resource utilization, and integrated sustainability assessment. A qualitative descriptive and conceptual research design was adopted using secondary academic literature. The analysis indicates that intelligent technologies can improve resource-use efficiency by continuously monitoring consumption, identifying inefficiencies, forecasting demand, and supporting adaptive allocation decisions. AI-enabled predictive models can assist organizations in anticipating resource requirements, while IoT networks can provide real-time operational information. Digital twins can support scenario-based planning by representing resource systems and evaluating alternative management strategies. However, implementation challenges include data-quality limitations, technological investment, interoperability problems, cybersecurity concerns, computational requirements, institutional barriers, and shortages of interdisciplinary expertise. Effective intelligent resource management therefore requires integration of technological capabilities with sustainability principles, lifecycle thinking, human oversight, and transparent governance. Future research should explore autonomous resource optimization, AI-enabled circular systems, digital twins, decentralized energy management, intelligent water systems, predictive resource demand models, and integrated sustainability platforms. Intelligent sustainable systems can contribute to more efficient, adaptive, and resilient resource management when supported by reliable data, responsible technology implementation, and long-term sustainability objectives. |
