| Abstract | Artificial intelligence and data science have become increasingly important for transforming contemporary research through intelligent computation, automated analysis, predictive modelling, pattern recognition, and large-scale knowledge discovery. The integration of these fields provides researchers with advanced capabilities for processing structured and unstructured data across scientific, technological, social, economic, environmental, and healthcare domains. This study examines artificial intelligence and data science applications for future research, focusing on machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, predictive analytics, data mining, knowledge discovery, and intelligent research systems. A qualitative descriptive research design was adopted using secondary academic literature and thematic analysis. The analysis identifies major applications including automated literature analysis, predictive modelling, multimodal data interpretation, research-data management, hypothesis generation, simulation, and interdisciplinary knowledge integration. AI and data science can improve research efficiency by automating repetitive analytical activities and supporting complex data interpretation. However, challenges involving data quality, algorithmic bias, explainability, privacy, computational requirements, reproducibility, and research integrity require careful consideration. The study emphasizes the importance of human oversight, transparent analytical procedures, ethical data governance, interdisciplinary expertise, and methodological validation. Future research should investigate explainable AI, autonomous research assistants, multimodal analytics, causal machine learning, AI-supported experimental design, and human-AI research collaboration. The study concludes that responsible integration of artificial intelligence and data science can strengthen future research capabilities while preserving scientific rigor and researcher accountability. |
