| Abstract | Smart healthcare systems are increasingly using artificial intelligence techniques to improve clinical decision support, medical diagnosis, patient monitoring, healthcare analytics, personalized care, and operational management. The integration of machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, predictive analytics, and intelligent decision-support technologies enables healthcare organizations to process complex and rapidly generated information. This study examines the role of artificial intelligence techniques in smart healthcare systems through a conceptual and literature-based research approach. The study focuses on AI applications in medical imaging, clinical prediction, patient monitoring, electronic health records, personalized healthcare, remote healthcare, and healthcare resource management. The analysis indicates that AI can support healthcare professionals by identifying patterns within large datasets, assisting diagnostic interpretation, predicting potential clinical risks, and improving information management. Machine learning can support classification and prediction tasks, while deep learning and computer vision can assist with medical-image analysis. Natural language processing can facilitate the extraction of useful information from clinical documentation, whereas predictive analytics can support proactive patient management. Smart monitoring systems can also integrate information from wearable devices and connected healthcare technologies. Despite these opportunities, the implementation of AI-based smart healthcare systems involves challenges related to data quality, algorithmic bias, privacy, cybersecurity, explainability, interoperability, clinical validation, infrastructure, and professional acceptance. The study emphasizes that AI should function as a supportive technology within healthcare rather than an unrestricted replacement for professional judgment. Effective smart healthcare requires technological integration with clinical expertise, secure information governance, patient-centered design, and continuous performance evaluation. Future research should investigate explainable AI, multimodal healthcare intelligence, federated learning, privacy-preserving analytics, intelligent remote monitoring, and human-AI collaboration. The study concludes that appropriately designed AI-enabled smart healthcare systems can strengthen healthcare delivery by improving analytical capabilities, supporting timely decisions, enhancing patient monitoring, and contributing to more coordinated and personalized healthcare services. |
